May 01 Mars Mission Hi, I had a great field trip today to the challenge learning center in Oregon (a suburb of Toledo) where we practiced the whole process of going to the "Mars". Each every 50 of us was given a particular job to achieve the mission. I was basically in charge of Data collection at variety of stations. Adam, Rachel and Michelle were my major partners who were in charge of different data groups and communiation. We succeeded, of course, and had a lot of fun at the same time. Surprisingly, it is the Seniors last in dress code day and they are graduating in less than 10 days. There will be my driving test tomorrow that I have been looking forward to since a year ago and I am a little bit nervous. Good luck Bill! 811 April 29 State Farm Hi, Insurance is absolutely a pain in the rear for drivers, and teens in order to drive need to pay extra amount adding on to the original price. The Extra is about $60 a month. I can get a short-term (6 weeks) state farm insurance right after my license is issued that will fully guarantee my right to drive anytime I want. I rent a King Claudius costume at a costume shop today for costume banquet on Wednesday, that will be a lot of fun. Unfornately I witnessed two car crashes today which happened to be my first time ever. Nobody got hurt luckily, but accidents are not pleasant at all. Gas price skyscraped over the month. Although the gas price never stay stable, it has never gone that high before. Gas price was always around $2.60 to $3.10 per galloon. The price now is around $3.50 to $3.90. This is a considerable difference. By the way, I really look forward to my field trip on Thursday which will be a lot of fun. 811 April 25 All School Retreat Hi, Such a long day! I'm really sick of this retreat. I suppose that a third of the students did not even show up today. The retreat includes a mass, 4 guest-speakers and takes a whole day long. Thanks God that I am out of it now. I understand the third of the students who were absent today, but unfortunately thet would probably got cited. Oh well, have fun for weekends! 811 April 24 Free Rice Hi, Come to www.freerice.com to do some comtribution! Great website, safe and have fun! U gotta check it out! 811 April 23 Bittersweet World Hi, There really aren't many new albums these days that I actually look forward to, until Ashlee Simpson's Bittersweet World was released yesterday. It is a rather descent album though not being comparable to her first two albums. Little Miss Obsessive might be the best in this album. I love her previous L.O.V.E, La La, Come Back For More. Mariah's E=MC2 came a week before. Bye Bye is a great song in her new album. By the way, AI is extremely popular these days. I don't have any interest to watch it since my favorite in this season, Kristy Lee Cook was eliminated. 811 April 22 Guest Speaking at Lourdes Hi, I did the guest-speech at Lourdes College as I said would. It was a small class with about ten students so I was not that nervous. I spoke for about an hour and surprisingly I did not even prepare anything before I went to the speech. I was told to talk about China (of course) related topics at the site. It was an interesting experience. I talked a lot about Dalai, Education, one child law, the Olympics, geography etc. I cannot even remember. I was rewarded a BK coupon which really surprised me because I love BK! I bought a double-whopper through the drive-thru on the way. Anyway, I got to keep working. I did alright on the religious test which really made me happy. Incoming events for me: Driving pracice next next Wed and Thur, and license test next Fri. Tourney next weekend at Columbus. Spring musical at Valentine Theatre May 9, dressup party next Wed, science center field trip next Thur and most important Cedar Point amusement park trip on May 13. Oh! Have fun! 811 April 21 Practical Driving Hi, I was shocked at what I see today during my driving class with Denise. Although it was for the stupid driving school, I fortunately got a nice guy, Denise, a nice middle-age African-American full-time driving school instructor. Unlike last time Old lady Candy just took me looking for a house, I got a virtual tour of the town. Since I did great on high way driving and maneuverability and there was no house to look for, I went on the tour after taking a girl home who lived right by Lake Erie, a gorgeous place. I drove on 280 and went down to Perrysburg,OH a lovely town where we visited a fishing place. Then we went across the Maumee River and reached the other end which is Maumee,OH. Maumee is by the river and houses are beautifully laid out, it is just a great place to visit. I had just a pleasant time. I drove by the Toledo Zoo which is right by the Maumee River, oh i love it. The speed limit by the bank of the river is pretty low though which I did not very much appreciate. Then I drove back to downtown and visited the court house and the library and the Valentine theatre. Also I saw the first construction place ever since I came here, the construction of the Arena for the Toledo Walleyes(Minor League Hockey League). My speech at college will be tomorrow but before that I have a bunch of stuff to study since the religious test is coming. I don't know if I have anytime to watch Rockets game tonight. I just wish them good luck here. Go Rockets! 811 April 20 Rocket Vs Jazz Hi, I wathced Rockets-Jazz game yesterday and I was very disappointed with the outcome. But it pry is Houston's destiny because I don't see any chance that Rockets can win the series. Adelman is a great coach, but he did not give enough help yesterday. McGrady did what he can yesterday, but the health problem really bothered them. Yao and Alston are down while Battier and T-mac are injured. Anyway, I originally did not have high anticipation on this team. Hopefully they will do better next year. Only way they can make progress is to keep their key players healthy. Go Rockets! Check out Scola's blog, he is really a nice guy. (I can almost understand Scola's Spanish!) 811 April 19 Earthquake Hi, No panic, it really was nothing. Center quake was in Illinois and It was only a 5.3 quake, no big deal. One thing amazing about it is that I really felt it. Everything goes great recently and now Carol is having her front door reinstalled. It is already have way through the 4th quarter. Oh, the Quidditch! uh, Petro team beat the Hoffman team 50 to 10. After the prom there will be a dress up party coming and I look forward to my costume. There are really fairly big protests these days in the area, because the Dalai Lama is speaking at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor right now. I would be willing to see what he wants but the tickets are sold out months ago. 811 April 16 Quidditch Hi, Petro organizes a Quidditch match among the seniors every year and this year he has a huge team and competition. The weather is turning nice so we get some opportunities to get outside the building. Petro took us out today since half of the class were on a field trip to the Toledo Art Museum with their AP English course. We set up the Quidditch field which is about 80m long and 50m wide. Six hooks are set on both ends of the field. Bats ang brooms are used in the Quidditch game and so do baseballs (Quaffles). It should be a lot a fun and hopefully I will get to play a bit.Its such a pity that I cannot use the damn camera or I will take pictures of it. Let's have fun with it! 811 April 14 Prom Hi, Prom was really not going well. The weather was horrible, sleeting and snowing. Moreover, Gina was ill and she called me to say she was not going, so I went there by myself (actually with Phil, because teachers were required to come). The dance place was not warm, actually it was freezing. I did dance, and I pretty much learned how to dance which was not hard at all. Most embarrassing thing was that my tie fell apart during prom and I really had a hard time to tie it up. The food was still good though. After prom we were "imprisoned", locked in the building which is supposed to be the school's prevention of achohol or other imappropriate activities. There I played cards game similar to UNO with Jordan, John, Kenneth and Erica. It was called crazy 8. I got to get home at 8 in the morning, and thanks to prom we got today off. I bought a pair of new dance shoes and a new tie for the prom with my yellow jacket and blue shirt and I really looked adorable. 811 April 10 Schedule 4 next year! Hi, I have my schedule for next year pretty much figured out. Decided 1: Religious Study 4(College Prep): I really don't want to take Honors Religious and I hope Rel.4 won't be a disaster for me. (This years religious was pretty much a tornado and it was supposed to be the easiest among all 4 levels.) Decided 2: AP Language and Composition(AP): I really should challenge myself just a little bit more in English. Though there will be tons of reading, I believe that I can handle it. I will miss Ms Hartford She is teaching Senior English Seminar(CP). Decided 3: AP American Government(AP): I dont have much of choice but to take this, because I don't think College Prep Government is any better than this. Decided 4: Debate/Speech(CP): This is my substitute for Fine Art( I know this sounds ridiculous). I really need a Fine Art credit to graduate, and debate/speech is much better than others. I am not going to do Glee Club or others anyway. I probably can learn something useful in Debate/Speech and I just me as well choose it. Note: this is a combination of 2 semester courses( Debate;Speech) which means I will take them separately. Undecided 1: Honors Science Research(Honors): This is supposed to be a great class for me as all the kids said. By I just don't find it any fascinating to go over the stuffs what NASA, NOAA or NSF have done millions of years ago and to write long papes about them. Also the enrollment of this course is pretty low (2 or 3 kids in total?) so school is not sure if this course will be even in existence. Undecided 2: Honors Computer Science(H): This is supposed to be an ETEC(easy-to-earn-credits) course and it is Honors and, moreover, I can enjoy the air conditioning and the privilege of the computer during school hours. What a great class! Only questions of this class are if I have enough time for it and again the low enrollment of it( I am not sure if this course has a higher enrollment than Honor Science Research). Undecided 3: AP Psycology(AP): This will really be a great challenge and this will be a subtitute for Undecided 2, if the course of Undecided 2 is not available next year. I learned that the teacher is psyco himself from jenny( I am sure she was just too much stressed out with it especially when the AP test is approaching). Undecided 4: Health(CP): This will really be a pain in the butt(jenny said that) if I have to take this(health is one of the requirement for diploma). My favorable counselor has given me a chance to go around the course and right ahead to take the test and if i pass I will be exempt from this class. I really will talk to Mr Carpenter(Health teacher) about it. Undecided 5: Spanish 2(Honors): Spanish is not my favorite and thank god that I am not required to take it next year so that explains why it is near the bottom of my list right now. Spanish just took too much of my effort this year. Undecided 6: Anatomy(CP), this is my absolute last choice for my science credit. It only happens if all the following are true. Science Honors Reseach is not available. My previous science study credit does not count. I fail to go to take college science class or the credit does not count. Question Mark 1: Calculus 2 or 3 at UT. This will be really expensive( probably $1500 for a semester). Question Mark 2: System Engineering offered by Owen at CCHS. I don't even know myself if I am interested in this. Question Mark 3: Mechanics Physics at UT. Same costs. I will probably end up taking 2 semester courses at UT, the 4 decided cources and 1 or 2 of the undecided(depending on when the college coursec are to arrange or other requirements) Any advice please contact me directly. 811 April 08 For Whom the Bell Tolls Hi, I am assigned to read Earnest Hemingway From Whom the Bell Tolls,a book about Spanish Civil War which occurred right before WWII. The assignment is assigned by Phil for me to read more and more. Brit lit Hartford, we are still working on new plays about flower girls. By the way I probably will be a guest speaker at Lorde College next week for a presentation on World's culture. I will receive my I-20 in a couple of days and so is Ruijia who is the son of professor Chen. Phil has been working really hard on those documents these days. George is sent home due to his lung surgery and I have not heard a word from him since we last met. Hope he will be alright. I am so pissed off because of the reading tests in Spanish all these weeks. Final project has been assigned by Cremean, my programming teacher, which is about a long flash project that features everything that can be done. More and more cal homework are given by Grieger these days and also Physics tests are coming though the topic is pretty old (Lights and lens). I signed up for senior science museum field trip and Ceder Point field trip next month and hopefully there will ba a dress up party at the end of this month. Prom is coming this weekend and everyone is ready for it. I really look forward to my license which I will probably receive on May 2. History test is tomorrow over WWII and part of cold war. I see it interesting to learn some chinese history in the view of Westerners. Kansas beat Memphis to reach the national title yesterday on an overtime victory. They made a three at the end of regular time to put themselves alive. Jeanne stopped by last week and it came obvious to me that everyone was doing great. SAT Tests prepare has been going quite well. I am going to sign up for ACT tests next September as well because I might get better on ACT with which I feel more comfortable. That's about everything I can think of right now. Though the games are held in San Antonio,TX , people all over the nations are watching the games. There are more people watching ncaa final four in US than NBA finals and that shows its popularity. This year all 4 top seeded teams from each region gather in San Antonio competing for the Nation's title. We have: UCLA, of course, from Los Angeles; UNC from Chapel Hill,North Carolina; University of Kansas from Lawrence, Kansas; University of Memphis in Normal Station, Tennessee. Yesterday's games were great. Memphis Tigers took control over UCLA and Kansas crushed UNC. Championship game will be held tomorrow. 811 April 03 Charlie bit me Hi, Hartford is teaching British English accent this week and it is really hard. Although I am quite used to listening to Brits' English, it is really hard to actually speak in such an accent. I did pretty bad today and so did others. Erika gave us a huge surprise by performing "Charlie bit me" with Alexz. It was so funny, and i still cannot stop laughing. Guys, try it! I am working really hard on the tons of Calculus homework Grieger gives us everyday. Moreover, I lost my god damn Texas Instrument TI-84 Plus Silver edition graphing calculator. This thing is at least $100 and I am not stupid enough to buy another one. I always borrow them from Tom or Megan or Carrie or even Grieger to do my homework. 811 April 01 College Choice? I could take that day off and that is the basic point of this. 811 March 28 21 Hi, 21, the movie i have been expecting came out today and i went to Franklin Cinema and watched it. Actually I got the tickets well before i saw the movie. I bought a dvd at Best Buy and they gave me a free movie tickets. The movie was about gambling. It was not bad. It was very boring at the begining and got better. I don't have much special feelings for it. There were lots of crazy math and there was one of them that i did not get. Ben explained it in the film but I did not quite get it. It was in the beginning about choosing a door to win a car in Mickey's MIT math class. Mickey wants Ben to choose one of the three doors. It was about probabilities. Anyone gets it, please please tell me. 811 March 27 Power Off... Hi, I am sending this message as the power is off now at the house. It is raining but I don't think it is that bad. I hope it can come back soon. By the way, I passed the driving school test today. CU l8er! 811 |
